Street art 4

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 15 December 2022 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

I thought I would share a few images of one of my favourite forms of art, Street art. It encompasses art as we might think of a fine art style, cartoon like images, abstracts and various other styles. Sometimes it carries a message, quite often sociopolitical and/or satirical or sometimes just something to brighten up our day. What I like about it is the accessibility and how it brightens up our environment, although I know there are some who disagree and see it as a violation, we are all entitled to our opinion. I enjoy capturing images of this amazing medium because we often loose some of the amazing works, because of vandalism, weather erosion or because it's removed and as a photographer I can help it live on.

This is another from Bristol not far from the other painted on a wall in the Ashton Gate area near Bristol City football ground.

Please excuse me if I don't get to comment people's images some days but I've had to return to a work life rather than become a pensioner as I had planned due cost of living and the tax man wanting a lump of my pension. I am making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

Larger than life! Excellent framing to show the street art in the wider view. Great to see you back on Am3, Doug, and I am enjoying your street art series. Interesting to read the background information you give as well.

I am sitting here thinking that Art, is or should be, upshots, at best "Fine," meant to inspire; and/or highlights beauty, positive human endeavor, courageous heroes, celebrates nature and all sentient life, and the Earth herself. Permanent graffiti of violence or of what/where we do not want to go, though presently appearing true, is temporary, and like fast food wolfed down but we actually know it is not healthy. Or, not our best. I painted big signs with a partner years ago. Loved it. I painted a mural for the museum: A stern and powerful shaman who was, 1200 years ago, the leader, with painted face and yellow wolf at his feet, but beautiful.
