Rusted Shut

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 25 February 2015 in Architecture and Portfolio.

One of the old hinges at Brean down fort, I used this as a print for a recent club competition on pattern or texture, but it didn't get anywhere

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

The Club has no idea, great colours and textures in this Frame.

25 Feb 2015 10:01am

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Thanks Ant. Wasn't the club it was the visiting judge who rejected it, told me he felt it should have been sharp all the way through, but personally I wanted the the dof like this. I have to say though these judges do a very hard job and the final decision is always a subjective one

Great colours and a good photo in it's own right but and I certainly can see also using this as a texture.

25 Feb 2015 7:04pm

@kiwisa: Thanks Frances, it was the dof that lost it for me according to the judge.

Wow ... tough judges! Without the DoF, I don't think the hinge would have stood out as it does.
Just my two cents! ;D
