Short eared owl

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 6 February 2015 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

On Wednesday Nige and I went and stood out in the cold most of the day in the hope of catching sight and getting a few images of short eared owls. There is seems to be a roost near by but we were all waiting and watching over one of the fields where they have been seen hunting regularly, after a few hours we were rewarded with a wonderful display by one of them who showed us its skill flying

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

You caught it in a nice position. I love these owls. I have only had the opportunity to see and photograph them once. It takes a bit of travel to go to their habitat.
