Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 17 November 2014 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Taken last week in Shaftsbury, Dorset, this is Gold Hill featured in the 1973 advert for hovis bread https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mq59ykPnAE

Canon EOS 60D 1/320 second F/10.0 ISO 200 51 mm

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

this picture is a marvel, with the village side still a bit sleepy, and the man in the middle, the mist slowly away, and the landscape. This deserves a spotlight for me for quality, color and framing.

OHHHHHHHHHh, Doug, you made my DAY ... a day late, but nevertheless ... I love this! Over the years I've saved a few of these images of where my ancestors hailed from ... I will take a screen shot of yours and hope you don't mind, to add to my genealogy files. I have no idea, of course, just where in Shaftsbury my Hayters lived, but I can dream that it was right here!

An incredible place captured from a wonderful POV. Reading Judy's comment, it would be fascinating to know if this is right where your ancestors lived. It would be a wonderful place to visit and experience.
