No return

Posted by Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 6 August 2014 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

I was really touched by this art installation built into the granite walls in Castle Drogo in Devon, it's called the corridor of no return and built to symbolise the marching off to war that commenced this week in 1914 and those who never came back.

Unfortunately I don't seem to have as much time as I would like at the present to get on AM3, but I am putting shots on from time to time and will try to visit others when I can.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori... the shot is powerful Doug. I listened to a bbc podcast this morning, the why factor, about patriotism and the world wars and what it meant to be a soldier at the time...it's such a solid event in our lifetime and it's there stuck in our history. I love this image and how pensive it makes me...not the best feeling ruminating on it but certainly well shot by you and a great communicative piece of art.
