Rotunda (Birmingham return 8 of 9)

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 4 August 2014 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is the Rotunda a building I remember well it stands looking over Birmingham and just below it is the famous Bull Ring Shopping Centre. It was completed in 1965 as part of the post war redevelopment of the Bull Ring and in 2000 gained status as a grade II listed building and houses offices and apartments.

This series consists of observations from my recent visit to my home City of Birmingham, a place I had not returned to really spend time looking around for over 40 years. The next few days will be my photographic experience of the city through older eyes, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did looking round and taking images.

Thanks for all the comments left while we were away looking after our granddaughters, I will make an effort to catch up

Canon EOS 60D 1/640 second F/11.0 ISO 100 18 mm

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

@Julie L. Brown: Thanks Julie. I think like most places if we care to look there are fascinating places to see, but I have to admit it had greatly improved from the place I had in my memories when I left some 40 years ago

Beautiful b&w image and a wonderful perspective! I like the architecture. I can just imagine that in 1965, this building was ahead of it's time and was quite modern. Fabulous sky!
