Dominic gets the ball

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 8 April 2013 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

One for Jeff to prove we're looking after him.
Dominic Day, plays lock for Bath Rugby and receives a helping hand from other forwards in the lineout when we handed a defeat in the league game against London Welsh at the Rec last week

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

Julie L. Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

Wow-that is an amazing shot, Doug! Is this an unusual move, or do they do this all of the time? It looks pretty risky.

8 Apr 2013 9:31am

@Julie L. Brown: It's now quite standard practice to lift the jumpers in a lineout, (which happens after the ball goes out of play, it's thrown in during a set piece called the Lineout where both teams line up and the ball is thrown back into play) Years ago when I used to play it was a penalty for lifting the lineout jumpers but now it's pretty much standard practice !

Jules from Drayton, United Kingdom

Sadly the London Welsh have taken a bit of a battering this season and with their 5 pt deduction for indiscretions they look like they are heading back down to the lower league. Shame really as they had brought premiership rugby to Oxford. Great action shot btw

Kate from EXETER, United Kingdom

Wonderful action shot Doug, I have one of the Exeter Chiefs playing a few months ago but their new kit looked pink and they were playing the Saints in pale blue. The shots came out well no blur but it just didn't look right and I even got a few that look like I was so close I was in the scrum too... but pink???
Maybe I will post it for a ST shot?

8 Apr 2013 2:40pm

@Kate: Thanks Kate. I don't think the Chiefs would look good in pink, but as you say it might make a good ST
