Purton Hulks

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 28 February 2013 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Nige and I went for a wander to a place called Purton on the banks of the tidal part of the river Severn, for years various small ships and boats have been beached here to reinforce the banks of the river. This is a HDR of one of the hulks there which yesterday got me second place in our camera club's print competition.

Please excuse me if I don't get to comment people's images some days but I've had to return to a work life rather than become a pensioner as I had planned due cost of living and the tax man wanting a lump of my pension. I am making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

Congrats to you on your Place for good shots. This is wonderful! Like the mossy ribcage of a whale skeleton ---how interesting and artistic is even the decaying remains of a ship.

Rick from Toronto, Canada

The POV couldn't be better, and your HDR is spot-on, so congratulations for the very high placement. Where I grew up in Port Credit, which is just west of Toronto, they have made use of a massive old great lakes freighter to serve as a de facto breakwater. Nice when these relics can still be useful!
