Prestonpans Murals 2

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 1 September 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

While staying near Edinburgh in June we came upon the small town of Prestonpans which had fascinating murals painted on many walls in the town earning the place the title of Scotland's Mural Town. Many of them depict some of the social and industrial history of the town and with this short series I will show a sample of them and can only recommend a visit if you are into street art as I am.

This one was near the entrance to the local industrial museum, I've attempted to increase the saturation a little if you think the grass looks odd as the mural is beginning to fade

Please excuse me if I don't get to comment people's images some days but I've had to return to a work life rather than become a pensioner as I had planned due cost of living and the tax man wanting a lump of my pension. I am making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

It's too bad it's fading... it would be great if they could have someone restore the colors but it would probably be too costly. Enjoy it while it's there, I guess. It's a nice mural too!

I like that you caught the stars beyond, and that this is a night shot. The fade makes it's interesting and timeless.
