What is he doing with his fancy footwear ?

Back to the Three Counties Show, this was part of a race that took part at the show, but any idea's what sort of race? If no one guesses right I'll give another clue tomorrow.
Nige, you're banned from guessing as you were there !

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

This person is climbing a pole the way the phone line maintenance folks have done it for years...with a sharp spike that is strapped to the boot and digs into the pole to grant a "foot-hold" and up -or down-they go. the race is on to the top of the pole...
