Sir Walter Scott Monument 3

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 13 July 2012 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Still from the monument looking South over Edinburgh, you can see Princess St again with the work going on for the trams and in the distance Calton Hill with the National and Nelson monuments

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

Excellent view and all the way across the Forth over to Fife. Not so sure about the trams being worth it, apart from the years and years of disruption, the sky high cost and now the route has been shortened and cut.

I'm wondering what the complex is in the foreground with the ball shape in front?

13 Jul 2012 10:28am

@Jerry: I'm not sure, it was being erected while we were there, the Olympic torch was due in Edinburgh the following day so it may have been put up for those celebrations

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

Wow, what an incredible view! We'll need to try and climb up it next time we're there. Great shot!

Your view from the top is an eye opener Doug.... a super spot to take in the movement of the city. Summer construction is always a pain! That looks like greenhouses on the right. And what a beautiful day. So much to see, I enjoyed!

@Carol: Believe it or not Carol it's Waverley Station which is the main rail station for the city

What an amazing view and the beautiful day gives such clarity right into the distance. I think I remember my uncle telling me that the ruins on the hill in the middle distance is The Folly, but can't remember who or why it was put there.
