Englands oldest sweet shop 2 of 2

Posted by
Doug (Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom) on 28 June 2012 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

On a recent visit to Yorkshire my Son and Daughter-in-Law took us to this lovely village in the Yorkshire Dales so we had to visit the sweet shop, which just happens to be the oldest in England.
This is just some of the lovely selection of sweets they had for sale.

Making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.

I'm so glad you included an interior view. I love dark chocolate so I'm sure they have that in there somewhere. I notice the females seem to like over the shoulder purses. Interesting.

What can I get for a penny mister, A penny bar, or 2 black jacks, or 2 bananas... His name was Mr Jones, from a time when shopkeepers wore a brown coat. In Chester city there is a shop just like yours.

Until recently we had a candy shop right across the river from us. Your image reminds me of days when my children (all now grown) and I walked across the bridge and they would eagerly spend their pennies and nickels. Brings back fond memories.

In Sweden where I live there was (not that I know) no shops that only sold candy at the time. Here they had to go to the country store where there was both candy, milk, flour, etc. Thanks for showing us here at Am3.
