More recent years I had been playing with point and shoot digital cameras then the last couple of years wanted to get more creative, so brought a bridge camera and now on my second DSLR. I feel I'm still expanding my knowledge and have lots to learn about this incredible passion especially about post production. One thing I find Aminus has done, as well as encouraging me to get out there and take photographs is helping me to learn, through looking at some of the incredible images I see every day and through the helpful and sometimes constructive comments I receive. I find photography a great way to relax, and is a distraction from my work which is with people with severe mental health problems and can be very stressful although satisfying. I think that is why my photographic preference tends to be wildlife and landscapes but as I'm seldom without my camera I will try to capture anything in my lens !
I was encouraged to join Aminus by a friend Nigel http://woodstock.aminus3.com/, and feel my photography grows each day thanks to looking at the fantastic images others post and through the helpful comments I receive.
I perhaps also should add that I'm often found lying around in strange places with the camera to my eye, my excuse is I'm trying to get that different angle on a subject, although my friends remark on my activity as slithering !
