This is the part of the exterior of the new Birmingham City Library, it was designed after a competion to find the best design and was won in 2008 by Mecanoo and multi-discipline engineers, Buro Happold. It was formally opened on 3 September 2013 by Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who survived a Taliban assassination attempt, and who now lives in Birmingham. Before unveiling a plaque, she said "Let us not forget that even one book, one pen, one teacher can change the world"
This series consists of observations from my recent visit to my home City of Birmingham, a place I had not returned to really spend time looking around for over 40 years. The next few days will be my photographic experience of the city through older eyes, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did looking round and taking images.

Please excuse me if I don't get to comment people's images some days but I've had to return to a work life rather than become a pensioner as I had planned due cost of living and the tax man wanting a lump of my pension. I am making an effort to return to AM3 after a bit of an absence, it's really nice to see photo's from all contributors and I will try to comment when I can. If I offer criticism I do so only to help and I do not wish to cause offence. My photography tends to be from my travels, as well as my passion which is wildlife and landscape. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Thanks for your comments I'm really grateful for them and welcome constructive feedback.
